The Irene table runner is another frieze pattern from a Byzantine- Pompeii styled home in the area of Thessaloniki Greece. Sourced from the ItihāasArchive of lithographs, this whimsical pattern has been repurposed by our designers with borders of Pompeiian Mosaics from the same time period to make it a unique table runner. The bolder and darker tones of this piece led to the name Irene, after the 6th century Byzantine-Greek Empress Irene of Athens, famous for ending iconoclasm; a true patron of preserving the arts, culture and religion during her reign.
